  34. Because it is a gray market modem.  It was not bought in Singapore
  35. through the authorized USR distributor.  Warranty service is provided
  36. by the distributor by contract with USR.  But since the modem was not
  37. purchased through the distributor, there is no warranty.  You broke
  38. the chain and gave up your right to support by doing so.  Now if you
  39. move to the USA and use the modem here you will get support.
